And on the subject of children’s tableware – you certainly won’t hand a baby under 1-2 years old a good porcelain cup to drink from and say “Here, give it all!”
BUT: from about 2 years of age, the age is also reached where you won’t cause a storm of enthusiasm with a tableware set for the little rascals for their birthday 🙂 There has to be at least one more thing to play with!
That’s why such a traditional gift, which you may still have in your cupboard as an adult and have fond memories of, is still a great gift for a birth or first birthday.
Starting with a cup, you can always add to the pieces, e.g. with a cereal bowl or a plate with a different animal or fairytale motif.
